After seven years of soul searching, everyone's favourite plastic couple has reunited.

Mattel announced on Valentine's Day that Barbie and Ken are back together again, after deciding to call it quits back in 2004, ending a 43-year relationship.

The toy company used social networking to let the dolls' fans watch their romantic rekindling play out over the last month.

In series of publicity stunts, the muscle-bound Ken doll made numerous romantic gestures over the last month, posting each one on Barbie's Facebook wall until she finally changed her status to “in a relationship” on Monday.

"Barbie and Ken have an epic love story that has stood the test of time," said Adriana Gut, marketing manager for girls' brands at Mattel Canada.

"As the ultimate boyfriend for every occasion, Ken knew just what to do to win Barbie back — the iconic couple were truly made for each other and this is just the beginning of their next chapter together. Ken professed his feelings toward Barbie through bus shelter ads, appearances in malls, and most importantly, by asking Canadians to go to Barbieandken.com to support his endeavor to win back his one true love — Barbie."
