Find a local cooking class that fits in with the erotic sizzle of the holiday. (Shutterstock)

We're all super-busy these days, so it can be hard to find the time to come up with the perfect Valentine's Day date. Research shows that couples who try new things together stay together, so we've come up with some fun dates to try this V-Day--no standard-issue candlelit dinners involved.

    1. Wine- or beer-tasting

Booze can loosen up our inhibitions, which means"well, you know. Taking a guided tour of a local or nearby winery can show you a few new wine or beer varieties to try at home for your next romantic supper together.

    2. Rock-climbing

This fun sport has plenty of relationship-building features--there's the adrenaline rush of trying something new, plus the trust that you build helping each other to reach the top (to say nothing of all those deliciously kinky ropes and harnesses!). Scope out a local climbing gym and sign up for a lesson.

    3. Chocolate factory visit

Canada is home to many chocolate makers--these little bits of art are often not only breathtakingly beautiful, but they taste amazing. Chocolate notoriously releases the same feel-good hormones that sex does, so nosh down on some local treats together for a naughty rush.

    4. Therapeutic waters

Wanna strip down and get wet? Head to a spa that offers therapeutic waters, an ancient health practice that involves soaking in hot water (and alternating with cool plunge pools for an invigorating boost). After sweating out all your stress, you'll be dying to get home and steam up the sheets.

    5. Scavenger hunt

Working together toward a common goal is a great way to bond--and you can celebrate your victory together in private later! Grab a GPS, bundle up, and try geocaching. This modern-day treasure-hunt has participants use their GPS to find hidden trinkets (don't forget to bring something to leave behind for future lovebirds on the trail!).

    6. Cooking class

Find a local cooking class that fits in with the erotic sizzle of the holiday, whether it's the spicy flavours of Thai or Indian curries, the sweetness of pastry baking, or the flaming theatrics of Chinese wok recipes. Make a night of it--whoever makes the best dish gets to make the other their love slave for the night.

    7. Sex store visit

Instead of blindly choosing something for your loved one, make an afternoon of it and hit the sex store together for a sensual shopping experience that is one part fun, and one part foreplay. Turn it into a game--you each have to pick out something you think the other would like. Then see how well you know each other (and maybe choose something else!).

    8. Couples yoga

Those yogis were onto something. Practising this ancient art together is sure to strengthen your bond and bring you closer together. Breathe in sync and bend yourself into interesting new positions--it's sure to give you some great ideas for later on"
