Designer Tommy Hilfiger first met actress Zooey Deschanel, famed for her role in TV's "New Girl," through friends in Los Angeles, and after quickly establishing a rapport, they've worked together on a capsule collection of clothes and accessories, set to hit stores in April.

"I am a fashion fanatic and always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe," said Zooey Deschanel. "Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations-old school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons-and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece."

Featuring plenty of red, white and blue prints, the collection mixes the classic colors into Mod shapes and 1960s-influenced dresses featuring short hems inspired by it-girl models Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton.

"Each piece is original and fun," explained Tommy Hilfiger. "The collection is the perfect fusion of Zooey's adventurous style and the classic, cool, American spirit at the heart of the Tommy Hilfiger brand."

The 16 dresses will be available online, in select Tommy Hilfiger stores in North America, Europe, Mexico and Japan, priced from $98 to $199 and there will also be a selection of jewelry and handbags designed by Zooey. Special launch events in New York, Los Angeles and Mexico will be followed by a campaign shot by Carter Smith.
