They say what goes around comes around in fashion; in the case of the circle skirt, that's particularly true.
The full, fit-and-flare silhouette is back in a big way for fall, and with good reason -- it works for every body type, every occasion, and every climate.
"It's a skirt you can wear four seasons of the year," says stylist Talia Brown. "It's kind of like a piece you can invest in - you may as well find one you can really like ... There's nothing you can't wear with a good circle skirt."
Which one you choose all depends on how much leg you're willing to show. Rihanna and Taylor Swift took figure skater-style flared minis to great heights over the summer (Swift, in typically laid-back style, paired hers with a sweater and Keds). The more romantic calf-grazing version, meanwhile, was recently championed by Lucky Magazine editor-in-chief Eva Chen ("I want to wear them with everything," Chen said in a recent blog post). Brown's current fave: The luxurious, classic midi-length options at Pink Tartan.
Whether you go short or long, Brown says, that fit-and-flare shape is incredibly flattering. "A lot of women aren't comfortable with their hips and thighs, and it really hides the area most women are concerned about."
If you've got the legs for the shorter version, she adds, feel free to show 'em off. Ready to give it a whirl? Here are four of our favourite ways to style a circle skirt this season.
