Wesley Badanjak, a native Torontonian and a graduate of Ryerson University’s Fashion Design Program, is looking to the Adriatic coast in his spring collection called "Mare Adriaticum."
The collection focuses heavily on blue played against classic neutrals such as black, sand and white.
“The overall silhouette is composed of contrasting elements such as shrunken blazers paired with wide palazzo pants and fitted tanks worn with full, pleated skirts,” says Badanjak.
The collection is inspired by the blue seas and the sunny European coastline of the city of Split, Croatia, featured on the runway backdrop.
The show’s music also features a Croatian connection, as traditional folk songs are fused into electronic pop.
