If the latest data from the online dating site of adulterers is anything to go by, a lot of Ottawans have dirty little secrets.
Just in time for Valentine's Day, AshleyMadison.com reveals the capital raked in the most new sign-ups in 2012 than any other city in the country.
"I think cities like Ottawa, you have to took a look at the nature and nurture argument," said Noel Biderman, founder and CEO of AshleyMadison.com. "What type of personalities might be drawn to cities like that?"
Think of things like power, risk-takers, business types, high-fliers, ambitious and alpha personalities, said Biderman, all colliding in a diverse culture where happy-hour drinks are alive and well.
"Part of it is that so much business gets done after-hours and on a social level," he said. "A lot of infidelity is withstanding temptation."
Ottawa took top spot for cheaters - for the second year in a row - and boasts 55,228 members.
Yet the tally didn't even raise the eyebrows of some Ottawans.
"I'm not surprised at all. Pretty much all my girlfriends have been cheated on, like several times," said Erica Przesiecki, who added she has never been cheated on. "You can't trust anyone these days."
But don't think it's only men with the wandering eye - the capital also had the highest number of female members at 36%, ahead of the national average of 33%.
"Probably because there's plenty of fish in the sea in Ottawa," said Jess Morningstar.
But not everyone took the apparent popularity of philandering in stride.
"Wow. That is something I definitely didn't know. That's surprising," said Stefano Allgoewer. "(Ottawa) doesn't have the biggest population. You think population-wise, it would kinda cut off to something like Toronto, or somewhere else like that."
Calgary and Edmonton took second and third place when it comes to sidestepping monogamy.
While the site has its critics, it boasts 17 million members around the globe, and growing.
Others offered their thoughts on why cheaters may have it easier here.
"I'm from Barrhaven. It's smaller, and you can get away with it, and no one really says it's bad or anything," said Kaitlin McLellan, 20. "You can't go out anywhere, other than, pretty much, to go out to drink. When you get drunk, you get a little frisky ... and cheat."
