Next time I visit the public washroom at a bar, I will be sure to listen for the sounds of bumping and grinding against metal and porcelain in the other stall.
Having sex in public places is more common than you might think, at least according to a recent informal poll.
Public sex consists of intercourse or any sex acts performed in places where others might see.
According to the Criminal Code of Canada, it is illegal to have sex in a "public place," which is defined as "any place to which the public has access as a right or by invitation."
When your libido beckons, obviously petty things like privacy, comfort and the law don't factor into your decision to romp in the face of societal mores.
From parks, front lawns and workplace stockrooms to public hot tubs, roadsides and moving vans, your steamy anecdotes told me our hormones win the battle against modesty with surprising frequency.

Here, based on the X-rated tales from readers, is a list of some of the top places to have sex outside of the bedroom.
1. Sex in the great outdoors: In a park, on the beach, in the woods, on the lawn, by the side of the road. There's nothing like a little fresh air when you're getting hot and heavy.
2. Sex in a public washroom: "My date and I were at a billiards club and we couldn't go home together because we both lived with our parents so we did it right in the stall," said one boastful 29-year-old. No doubt some of the people I interviewed were big talkers, but lavatories came up again and again. I guess when you've gotta go, you've gotta go.
3. Sex on a balcony: "Knowing we could get caught at any second if someone looked out of their window was a real turn-on. It was rough and animalistic, no romance there, just raw passion that couldn't wait," said a 31-year-old woman.
4. Sex in a public hot tub: "It became a great inside joke between me and my guy. It was fun to be a little risky on top of those jets," said a 30-year-old public relations manager.

6. Sex at the laundromat: "I was sitting on the washing machine during the spin cycle. My boyfriend was tall so the machine was the perfect height," said a 37-year-old woman, who's obviously come up with the best pastime yet for killing time while doing laundry.
7. Sex in a high place with a panoramic view: Back in 1997, a couple made love in plain view of fans at Toronto's SkyDome hotel during a baseball game.
8. Sex on an airplane: Out of 50 people, only one person said they had joined the "Mile-High Club" by having sex at an altitude of no less than 5,280 ft. (a mile high above the Earth) in an airplane.
