A new survey of more than 2,500 European mothers of toddlers suggests that British toddlers may be the pickiest when it comes to food.

According to findings from website Growingupmilkinfo.com, created by baby product makers Cow & Gate, 69 percent of British toddlers refuse food from time to time, 13 percent reject some food at every meal, and 8 percent often throw food they don't like at the wall or on the floor.

More than 2,500 mothers of toddlers in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, and The Netherlands participate in the online survey. |

More than 40 percent of British moms said they allow their children to avoid eating certain foods, with nearly 38 percent giving up in the first five minutes of the meal.

Britain was second only to the Netherlands in being least likely to offer a minimum of one home-cooked meal a day.

Countries where toddlers are most likely to refuse food, according to the survey:

1 United Kingdom (69%)
2 Netherlands (63%)
3 Germany - Sweden - Italy (58%)
4 France (54%)
5 Spain (40%)
