The average Canadian who celebrates Halloween will spend about $70 on costumes and candies, a new poll has found.
A little more than half of Canadians (54%) plan to celebrate Halloween and when it comes to activities for the spooky day, 21% of survey respondents said they're going to hand out candy, 13% will take children trick-or-treating, while 8% plan to go to a party.
Women and adults between the ages of 18 and 34 are the most likely to attend parties, the poll found.
The Harris/Decima telephone survey for Scotiabank interviewed 1,000 Canadians between Oct. 3 and 8. The poll has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
