Entertain Oscar with a selection of sensational cocktails courtesy of Grey Goose.

The iconic spirits company celebrates the 2014 Oscars awards with a selection of cocktails that pay tribute to films up for Best Picture this year. Created by master mixologist, Grey Goose Ambassador Joe McCanta, the 2014 Awards Season Cocktail Collection toasts the achievements of the stars and filmmakers during the Awards Season — the four cocktails have been inspired by the themes of “survival at sea,” “futurism” and “downtown New York” which are represented by some of this year’s most acclaimed movies, in addition to Grey Goose's ultimate celebratory cocktail, Le Fizz.

The Cosmonaut

Inspired by the movie, Gravity, this futuristic cocktail is built over ‘planetary’ ice-spheres. Inspired by the sleek stylisation of the film, the space-candy rolled grape adds some playful glamour.

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts pear flavoured vodka (Le Poire suggested)
  • 1 part fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 parts ginger liqueur
  • 1 dash cardamom bitters

Directions:

Build over a large ice sphere in a spherical rocks glass. Garnish with space-candy dusted grape or similar retro candy.

Lower East Side

Inspired by Inside Llewyn Davis and American Hustle, this is a sophisticated twist on the most popular drink of the ‘60s: The Harvey Wallbanger.

Ingredients:

  • 1 part orange flavoured vodka (L’Orange suggested)
  • 2 parts freshly squeezed blood orange juice
  • 1 bar spoon orange flavour cognac liqueur
  • 1 drizzle aged balsamic

Directions:

Blend vodka and blood orange juice, then float liqueurs on top. Garnish with a slice of blood orange and a drizzle of aged balsamic.

Martini de la Mer

Inspired by Captain Phillips and All is Lost. This signature cocktail receives a maritime makeover and invokes aromas of the open sea.

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts vodka
  • 2 spritzes of ‘Sea Spray Essence’ (Noilly Prat dry vermouth or favourite dry vermouth blended with brine of one fresh oyster and a touch of fleur de sel sea salt)

Directions:

Stir and strain into a well-chilled coupette or martini glass. Garnish with a tiny cut of shiso (Japanese herb), red amaranth flower and a large caper berry.

Le Fizz

Grey Goose's signature celebratory cocktail for all occasions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 parts vodka
  • 1 part elderflower liqueur (St. Germain suggested)
  • 3/4 parts fresh lime juice
  • 2 parts chilled soda

Directions:

Pour all ingredients except soda water into a cocktail shaker. Shake briefly over ice and double strain into a chilled flute. Top with soda water. Garnish with a stirrer.
