Apparently, people really do read Playboy for the articles.

Because the publication's food column was named the winner in the International Association of Culinary Professionals' category of culinary-based column this weekend at a gala event in Chicago that honored the best in food writing.

Hugh Garvey took the award for his Playboy food column which is geared towards male readers who also happen to be foodies, with pieces like a guide to cocktail making and oysters 101.

In food and travel writing, John Baxter's "The Perfect Meal: In Search of Lost Tastes in France," was awarded best culinary travel cookbook, for taking readers on an epicurean odyssey in search of traditional, bizarre and endangered dishes across France.

Jean Anderson's Saveur magazine essay and love letter to Alentejo, Portugal won in the category of culinary travel writing.

"The Food I Dream Of" puts the spotlight on a sleepy town that boasts a rich, rustic food heritage spiced with cilantro and garlic, sausages and Iberian pork.
