Why are Canadian youth overweight?
Wed, July 20, 2011

It's no secret that more children are overweight today than in previous generations.

Fitness levels of Canadian children and youth (as well as adults) declined significantly between 1981 and 2009, according to Statistics Canada. During that period, the number of overweight or obese teenage girls rose from 14% to 25%, and for teen boys 14% to 31%.

Why are more Canadian youth overweight - and who's to blame?

Read more about the Statistics Canada study.

It's probably because they are allowed to eat and drink whenever they want to. They should be disciplined to eat at proper meal times. Drinking soft drink and having unhealthy snacks between regular meal times is spoiling their appetite for nutritious food.
