Kate Upton, fashion's curvy "It girl" and star of an already headline-grabbing Mercedes-Benz Super Bowl commercial, says getting the cover of Sports illustrated was her dream - not runway shows.

Speaking with New York Magazine's fashion blog The Cut, Upton revealed this week that her goals in modelling were less focused on high-fashion than many young models. Rather than storming the runways for high-end designers, she hoped to front SI's swimsuit edition - a feat she accomplished in 2012. In fact, due to promotional obligations for this year's issue, Upton won't be walking in New York Fashion Week, which begins on Feb. 6.

When asked about her diet, 20-year-old Upton says that juice fasts sound "horrible," and she tries to eat consistently healthy. This Super Bowl weekend however, she won't be munching on nachos, thanks to a photo shoot the next day.

The Florida native has become an unofficial cover girl for curvy - albeit highly sexualized - women in modelling. Her first big deal, a spring/summer 2013 campaign with footwear label Sam Edelman, was released in January. Photographer David Lipman told fashion news publication Women's Wear Daily they chose Upton because she's "not stick-thin" and has an "All-American" quality.

Though her dreams were skewed away from high fashion, Upton has been embraced by fashion bible Vogue magazine, securing a cover of the publication's Italia magazine in November 2012, and the U.K. version in January 2013.
